Raiders week four report card vs Browns If you had to describe the Raiders 45-42 overtime win over the Browns https://www.raiderslockerroom.com/authentic-derek-carr-jersey , roller coaster should come to mind. This game had it all, controversial calls, big plays, lead changes, and overtime.Unlike the previous three games the Raiders did not lead at halftime. The Raiders trailed 28-14 midway through the third quarter and needed some Derek Carr heroics to pull this one off.Grading the teams performance is a challenge in a game like this because although the result was a Raiders win, there are many areas where the Raiders need improvement.Let’s take at the week four Raiders report card.Aerial Attack: A-It’s difficult to be too hard on Derek Carr after this one.Yes, you can question the decision making on both of his interceptions but he showed tremendous heart and a desire to win when his team needed it.Carr finished the game 35 of 58 with 437 yards and four touchdowns. He showed toughness in the overtime period when he took a big hit, was slow to get up but stayed in the game and led the Raiders offense down the field to set up the game winning field goal.Carr delivered passes to eight different receivers.Amari Cooper (8-128-1) led the way along with Jared Cook (8-110-2).Ground Game: AMarshawn Lynch takes full responsibility for this grade. The offensive line was not great but Lynch did his part grinding out 130 yards on 20 carries.Lynch’s 130 yards on the ground was his most since 2014.Lynch longest run of the day was a 52 yard gain.He also caught three balls for 27 yards.Offensive Line: B+It was a slow start for the offensive line this week but they showed some toughness and grit this week against a good Browns defense. The group paved the way for Marshawn Lynch to gain 130 yards on the ground.Going into the game a key match up was Kolton Miller versus Miles Garrett. Although, Garrett was disruptive at times was not a game wrecker.Extra points were added to the grade for the Raiders ability to deal with an injury to Donald Penn.Donald Penn did not finish the game, due to a lower leg injury.Rookie, Brandon Parker was forced into action and played well.Browns defensive coordinator, Gregg Williams is known for his exotic blitz packages Derek Carr Jersey White , the Raiders offensive line held up well in pass protection.Defensive Line: DAs long as the defensive line continues to lack a pass rush and get gashed for big plays on the ground they will earn low grades.Maurice Hurst kept this group from getting an F.Hurst came up with a huge sack, fumble late in the third quarter. The play started the comeback for the Raiders. Three plays later, the Raiders closed the gap to 28-21. The Browns gained 208 yards on 31 carries, while rushing for three touchdowns. Linebackers: C+Marquel Lee led the way for the linebackers, playing his best game as a Raider.Lee did a little bit of everything today showing up in the run (10 tackles) and pass (2 pass deflections). The reason for the C+ is too many missed tackles.Missed tackles by Whitehead and Lee led to both of Nick Chubb’s touchdowns.Secondary: BThe secondary forced two turnovers today, Gareon Conley intercepted the first pass of his career and took it to the house. The secondary get’s graded on a bit of a curve because the pass rush is so bad they can’t be expected to cover for as long as they are asked to.Baker Mayfield had all day to scan the field and find an open receiver. The Raiders defense and secondary in particular benefited from several Browns drops.Special Teams: B+The special teams unit played a critical role in the win for the Raiders.Keep in mind the kicker, punter, and long snapper were all rookies.Newly signed kicker, Matt McCrane made 3 of 5 attempts. His first miss isn’t completely his fault. The kick took place on the infield dirt and the ball slipped on the dirt while be placed by Johnny Townsend.McCrane made the one that mattered, a 29 yard, game winner in overtime. The kick cover teams were on point, continuously limiting the Browns returns to no gains and putting the Browns offense is poor starting position. Dwayne Harris was excellent in covering kicks and returning kicks. His longest return of the day was a 49 yard punt return. Overall Grade: B It wasn’t always pretty but the Raiders did just enough to get a much needed win. ALAMEDA Antonio Brown Raiders Jersey , Calif. (AP) — The Oakland Raiders go into the final stretch of the season not knowing if they will have their starting offensive line available for the remaining two games.Coach Jon Gruden said he remained cautiously hopeful that left guard Kelechi Osemele can return from a toe injury and right guard Gabe Jackson can get back from an elbow injury in time for Monday night's home finale against Denver."You have to be realistic, not just hopeful," Gruden said Monday. "This is a serious toe injury that is hard for him to maneuver on. Gabe Jackson is suffering from a very legitimate elbow injury and it's hard to block people when you can't extend your arm. We're concerned, obviously. But, I will say this. Chaz Green and Denzelle Good — on a short notice — they did do some good things yesterday." With a pair of backup guards who joined the team during the year, the Raiders struggled offensively against a Bengals team that came into the game as the lowest-ranked defense in the NFL.Oakland allowed five sacks in a 30-16 loss as the offense generated just one touchdown behind the banged-up line. While much attention was placed on the fill-in guards, it was the rookie tackles who struggled more, particularly left tackle Kolton Miller, who allowed two sacks and eight of the 16 pressures against Derek Carr, according to Pro Football Focus."He had a couple pass sets that were uncommon for him and we have to fix that fast," Gruden said. "He was isolated in some tough one-on-one situations like he always is. There were a couple pass sets that I'm sure he wants back and we have to continue to work with him on the practice field and become a lot more consistent in that aspect."It's been a tough rookie season for Miller, who was selected 15th overall by the Raiders. Miller was hampered by a knee injury he played through earlier in the season and has appeared to lack the strength to deal with NFL pass rushers at times.According to Pro Football Focus Womens Bo Jackson Jersey , Miller has allowed more sacks (14) and total pressures (59) than any other player in the league. But Gruden remains confident in Miller."For a rookie, he's been able to handle the peaks and valleys of his rookie season very well," Gruden said. "He's had some really good games. He's had some games where he's had his eyes opened. He's not the first rookie left tackle that has gone through this. We'd like to see him finish with some authority and we have to help him do that with a much better protection plan than I called yesterday."The poor protection has taken a toll on Carr, who has been sacked 47 times this season after having just 36 the previous two seasons combined. he merger are Rich Gannon with 49 in 1999 and Jeff George with 58 in 1997.Carr has also been sacked at least three times in seven straight games, the longest single-season streak since Blake Bortles did it in the final seven games of 2014."I think Derek has played great," Gruden said. "Somebody told me he had 3,700 yards and 68 percent completions in 13 games. That's astonishing. With three new guards, losing a right tackle, a feature back, three top receivers. The guy is a hell of a player. The guy is a great quarterback. We are very pleased and proud of what he has done. We know we got to get better around him, and that we will."NOTES: Gruden said there's a chance T Donald Penn could be activated from IR from a groin injury that sidelined him in Week 4. … CB Gareon Conley is in concussion protocol after leaving Sunday's game with the injury.
