CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Reds put right-handed reliever Jonathan Broxton on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a sore pitching elbow, expecting to have him back in two weeks. Broxtons elbow bothered him during the week. He had an ultrasound on Friday that found swelling in the elbow. Manager Dusty Baker said the problem doesnt appear to be serious. "Actually, it turned out better than it could have," Baker said. "Theres no structural damage, no ligament damage. Thats a big plus. This will give it time to clear up. He could be throwing in two or three days, so its not too bad of a situation. He could be ready to go when his time is up." Broxton pitched the 14th inning and took the loss in a 6-5 defeat at Wrigley Field on Thursday. Baker was trying not to use him, but the long game forced his hand. "They assured us in the beginning that we couldnt make it worse by pitching," Baker said. "If it had been structural, we wouldve put him on the DL right away. If anything, were overly cautious, especially at this time of year. If it was September, it might be a different story." The Reds replaced him on the roster -- at least temporarily -- by calling up right-handed starter Pedro Villarreal, who was brought up from Triple-A Louisville earlier in the month to make an emergency start for Johnny Cueto. Villarreal lasted 3 2-3 innings in a 12-4 loss to Colorado on June 5 at Great American Ball Park, giving up 10 hits, six runs and three homers. He was sent back to Louisville. Cueto is on the disabled list for the second time this season with soreness behind his right shoulder. The Reds plan to activate him on Sunday to start the final game of the series against Milwaukee. The Reds called up left-hander Tony Cingrani to start in Cuetos spot last week. Baker said theres a chance Cingrani could stay on the roster when Cueto is activated, giving Cincinnati another reliever for its worn-down bullpen. The Reds played back-to-back extra-inning games on Thursday and Friday. Carlos Zambrano Jersey . Now, correct me if Im wrong but I saw one official distinctly pointing at the net indicating a good goal but after an inconclusive review they overturned the goal. Eller puts the puck on net and the on ice ruling from the ref behind the net is a Montreal goal. All is forgiven, Michael Jennings. The besieged NSW centre capped one of the great comebacks by scoring the match-winning try in the Blues 18-14 State of Origin III triumph on Wednesday night at ANZ Stadium.Jennings would have considered himself lucky to retain his spot as the Blues tried to salvage something after losing a 10th series in 11 years to Queensland. In the NRL, Jennings has the Midas touch. In game two for NSW this year, Jennings had the opposite.Everything Jennings touched did not turn to gold, bombing two almost certain tries as the Blues succumbed 26-16 in game two in Brisbane.Suddenly, the 28-year-old Jennings Origin career was at a crossroads.Only something special in his 18th Origin it seemed would keep Jennings in the NSW mix for next year.He left it late - but he made it count.Jennings crossed with 78 seconds left after a long James Tedesco run from a Blake Ferguson break, providing some consolation for his game-two shocker. To get that win is an awesome feeling, said Jennings who made 127m and had one line break.I am grateful for the opportunity.I was fortunate enough to get there in the end.It means a lot - well go into next year wwith a positive attitude.ddddddddddddQueensland looked set for a fifth series whitewash when fullback Darius Boyd crossed in the 75th minute to give the visitors a 14-12 buffer. However, Jennings went from zero to hero by crossing in the 79th minute in front of 61,267 mostly delirious NSW fans. Its a miracle try, Nine Network commentator and former NSW coach Phil Gould beamed.Jennings also made an impact early in the second half.He was ahead of the NSW kicker in the lead-up to Andrew Fifitas 42nd-minute try but the bunker surprisingly judged that Jennings was not interfering with the play and gave the green light. It was a reversal of fortunes for Jennings who duffed two tries in game two, including one effort where he knocked on by a fingernail.Asked if Jennings had made amends, retiring NSW skipper Paul Gallen said: I wouldnt say made amends.Unfortunately there was a fingernail in it (in game two) - you cant blame him for that. But it was a great try tonight.Hes fast, got good feet and he got there - that was very pleasing.
