NEW YORK -- The NHL has limited its outdoor games to one or two a year since it first began playing them 10 years ago. In January, thats set to change. There will be four games that month, and two more in March. To the rest of North America, the events could begin to seem ordinary. But the league is confident theyll remain a strong draw to the people who matter most. "For fans that want to attend, we cant do enough of them," NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said Thursday, standing on the spot at Yankee Stadium where the Rangers will play twice in January. The week before the Super Bowl is played in New Jersey, the Rangers will take on both of their metropolitan rivals. On Sunday, Jan. 26 theyll play an afternoon game against the New Jersey Devils. Then on Jan. 29, its a night game against the Islanders. In the new Yankee Stadiums short history, the ballpark has already hosted championship boxing, college football, and elite European soccer teams. But neither the Yankee Stadium built in 2009 nor its more storied predecessor across the street ever hosted a hockey game. The house that George Steinbrenner built should be electric. "This is one of the rare events that lives up to the hype," Rangers assistant general manager Jeff Gorton said. Other outdoor games scheduled for January are a New Years Day tilt between Detroit and Toronto at Michigan Stadium, which can hold well over 100,000 fans for football, and a game at Dodger Stadium featuring the Kings and the Ducks. In March, Chicago will host Pittsburgh at Soldier Field and Vancouver will host Ottawa at B.C. Place. The NHL expects to sell every ticket. Even if it expects to hear that its diluting the spectacle by making it more commonplace. "What happens is, fans get connected to the game in ways they never imagined," Bettman said. "Fans love attending this game. We dont feel were doing too many of them." The ballpark seats about 54,000 for football, and though the rink will be oriented on the field differently, most of the seats should remain usable for hockey. The Yankees outlined where they expected the rink to go on the field Thursday, describing an ice surface that would go diagonally across the infield from first base to third, behind the mound. Other than skating on top of where Derek Jeter -- when hes healthy -- dives for ground balls, and doing it in front of 50,000 screaming fans in the Bronx, itll be just like the pond hockey that players grew up playing. "Where you had the most fun was outside," Rangers captain Ryan Callahan said. Nike Air Max 270 Aanbieding . PETERSBURG, Fla. Nike Air Max Thea Nederland . Canberra Olympic reckon they know a way to beat A-League giants Sydney FC for a spot in the FFA Cup decider. The best chance weve got is if they turn up to the wrong ground or on the wrong night, laughed coach Frank Cachia.Maybe we can do something on Facebook that says were playing on a Wednesday and we turn up on a Tuesday.Olympic booked a semi-final date next month with the Sky Blues in the nations capital with a last-gasp 1-0 win over Victorian outfit Green Gully at Deakin Stadium on Tuesday night.Captain and veteran goalkeeper Angelo Konstantinou struck a penalty in the 95th minute to send the reigning local champions into the final four - the first ACT team to do so.And they did it with only 10 men, after Adam Rogic - brother of Socceroos and Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic - was sent off for two yellow cards on the hour mark.Canberra, celebrating their 60th year, are the last of the grassroots clubs in the competition, with Melbourne Victory to play Melbourne City in the other semi-final.Their clash with Sydney will be their first against an A-Leaggue side.ddddddddddddheres absolutely no way that Graham Arnold is going to be fearing Canberra Olympic, admitted Cachia. He knows that hes got quality and hell have an extra four weeks of preparation and the A-League kicking off. Were playing an A-League side when theyre at their peak pretty much but regardless, were going to give a good account of ourselves. These guys have already fulfilled so many dreams for the club and for the region.Konstantinou said he had no fear playing a club like Sydney FC.The 37-year-old, who runs a chain of gyms in the ACT by day, has just returned from representing Australia at the FIFA Futsal World Cup in Colombia.I get the same feeling when playing for Australia - were always facing big teams, he said.On the night, anybody can win. Whats to say theyre better?Theyre big games, but weve got the Canberra conditions, they have to travel, and weve got a really good team which is gelling together. ' ' '
