OAKLAND, Calif. -- Athletics outfielder Josh Reddick is accustomed to hitting his teammates with whipped-cream pies in the face quickly after game-ending plays. Reddick was happy to finally be on the receiving end of one in his second game back from the disabled list -- even if it took a bit longer than usual to get there. Reddick drew a bases-loaded walk in the 10th inning to force in the winning run and lift Oakland to a 4-3 win over the Chicago White Sox on Saturday, then waited near the As dugout until Coco Crisp sneaked up from behind and delivered the long-anticipated pie in Reddicks face. "They dont know how to do it right," said Reddick, who had two hits. "Im usually pretty quick about it. I talked to Coco and he said he didnt know how to do it. He went to three different exits." Reddicks first career game-ending walk off Hector Santiago capped what might have otherwise been a frustrating day for Oakland. The As had 16 hits, stranded 18 runners overall and failed to score after loading the bases with no outs in the ninth before scoring the game-winner off Santiago (1-4). Chris Young, who had two hits, started the rally with a one-out double. After Yoenis Cespedes was intentionally walked, Josh Donaldson drew a free pass from Santiago to load the bases. Brandon Moss then lined out to second before Reddick walked on five pitches. "You keep putting guys on base and somebodys going to score at some point," Oakland manager Bob Melvin said. "It took a little longer than usual today, and it was painful at times. But at the end of the day, its a win." Jed Lowrie matched his career high of four hits for the As, who have won seven straight at home and 13 of 15 overall. Jerry Blevins (4-0) retired one batter to get the win after Melvin emptied his bullpen following a stellar effort by starter Dan Straily. Straily struck out eight in six innings and left with a 3-1 lead before Chicago scored two runs in the seventh to tie it. Alejandro De Aza had two hits and two RBIs for the White Sox, who have lost five straight. "There was progress, if theres a silver lining to it, but then again were here to win games," Chicago manager Robin Ventura said. "It was a high-wire act for Hector ... but as far as fighting back, you like what you see out of the offence." Cespedes doubled in Lowrie in the first, then Young snapped an 0-for-19 streak with an RBI single in the second to put the As up 2-0. After De Aza doubled and scored on Adam Dunns single in the third, Oakland made it 3-1 when Donaldson hit a one-out single and scored on Nate Freimans triple in the fifth. It came after Chicago starter Jose Quintana was called for a balk when he stumbled off the mound and dropped the ball during his windup. Oakland had runners on in each of the next four innings but failed to score. "I dont see it as bittersweet," Reddick said of Oaklands lack of production with runners in scoring position. "Tomorrow we may hit five hits and score seven runs." Quintana left after giving up a one-out double to Lowrie in the sixth. The left-hander walked three and struck out four. The White Sox, shut out a day earlier by 40-year-old Bartolo Colon, couldnt get much going against Straily but broke through against the As bullpen in the seventh. Jeff Keppinger singled off reliever Sean Doolittle and took third on Hector Gimenezs double. De Aza followed with a sharp two-run single to drive in both runs and tie the game at 3-all. Donaldson reached on an infield single leading off the ninth against Nate Jones. Santiago relieved Jones and walked Moss, then gave up a bunt single to Reddick. Santiago got Derek Norris to ground into a 6-2-3 double play, then later fanned Eric Sogard to end the jam. It was a rough day all around for the slumping White Sox. Designated hitter Paul Konerko struck out twice before leaving the game with a stiff neck. Shortstop Alexei Ramirez also appeared to injure his lower back after bumping into left fielder Dayan Viciedo chasing down a popup by Cespedes also in the sixth but stayed in the game. NOTES: Oakland is 9-1 in games decided in the final at-bat. ... Quintana, who tied for second in the AL with 15 no-decisions in 2012, already has six this season. ... Chicago LHP Chris Sale (5-2) takes a 23-inning scoreless streak into Sundays series finale. ... Oakland RHP Jarrod Parker (3-6) will make just his second career start against the White Sox.
