(SportsNetwork. Chris Paul Jersey .com) - The end of a Hall of Fame baseball career has arrived for New York Yankees captain Derek Jeter. Five World Series rings, more than 3,000 hits (3,464), several beautiful girlfriends and admiration by all, Jeter will say goodbye to baseball Sunday in the finale of a three-game series against the rival Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. Jeter enters the final game of his brilliant career with a .309 batting average, 260 home runs, 544 doubles and 1,923 runs scored. His on-base percentage is .377. Jeter, though, may not reach the bases this afternoon and hopes to shake off a hamstring issue suffered on an infield hit in the third inning of Saturdays 10-4 loss. Ill leave it up to him, like I have yesterday and today, Yankees manager Joe Girardi said of Jeters status for Sunday. Ill text him in the morning and see what he wants to do. Girardi also mentioned how he felt about his shortstops last game. There is a sense of sadness for me knowing its his last game, he said. You never want to see great players leave. Jeter, a 14-time All-Star, is unsure how he will feel leaving the game in Boston, especially after Thursdays Bronx sendoff. I dont know how it will feel. I cant imagine it feeling like it did in New York, Jeter said. That has nothing to do where I am, thats just where I played my entire career. New York was as good as it gets. A 20-year career for the highly respected Jeter will conclude on historic Boston grounds, a place where Jeter tormented the Red Sox faithful countless times with acrobatic plays in the field and clutch hits at the plate. Missing the playoffs stung for Jeter and the Yankees, and Girardi said nobody is happy about it. Girardi expects better play for next season. The bottom line is that we didnt execute well enough in certain situations, and we have to do better, Girardi said. Thats the thing, whether its getting a runner over and in, making a pitch when you need to make a pitch. We were in a lot of close games. If we could have won five or six more, you might be playing next week. We were in so many, you definitely have some you can remember. The Yankees will try to forget Saturdays drubbing at the hands of the Red Sox, who put the game away with an eight-run second inning and cruised to the victory. Masahiro Tanaka made the start and lasted on 1 2/3 innings, charged with seven runs (5 earned) and seven hits. It was Tanakas second start after missing time with a balky elbow. Stephen Drew drove in two runs, while Ichiro Suzuki, Francisco Cervelli, Chase Headley and Chris Young had two hits apiece for the Yankees, who had a two- game win streak stopped and lost for the third time in the past five games. Taking the hill for New York on Sunday will be Michael Pineda. Pineda is 4-5 with a 1.93 earned run average in 12 starts and his 2014 season will mostly be remembered for a pine tar incident, against Boston early in the season, that cost him a suspension. Pineda was 0-3 in four outings until shutting down Baltimore in Mondays 5-0 win, as he delivered 7 1/3 scoreless innings of one- hit ball with eight Ks and a walk. Pineda is only 1-4 in six road assignments and 1-2 with a lofty 7.50 ERA in three career starts against the Red Sox. The big right-hander is 1-1 in two starts against Boston this season. The defending World Series champion Red Sox look to close out a disappointing season on a high note and recorded their third victory in four attempts on Saturday. Daniel Nava had three hits and three RBI, and Rusney Castillo went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in Saturdays win. Yoenis Cespedes drove in two runs and reached the 100-RBI plateau for the first time in his career. Red Sox starter Joe Kelly allowed four runs on nine hits over 7 1/3 innings, but it was enough to snag the win. For any guy in the rotation, the ability to log innings is a primary goal, Boston manager John Farrell of Kelly. His efficiency is because hes been able to pitch with his fastball and get some ground-ball outs. Clay Buchholz will make the start against Jeter and the Yankees Sunday and is 8-10 with a 5.31 earned run average. Buchholz has lost two straight starts after winning three in a row and was ripped for five runs and eight hits in 7 2/3 innings of a 6-2 loss to Tampa Bay on Tuesday. Buchholz has made 13 home starts this season, going 3-6, and is 5-6 with a 5.62 ERA in 14 career starts against the Yankees. The righty is 0-1 in two starts in this seasons series with New York. The Yankees are 11-7 versus the Red Sox this season. Hamidou Diallo Jersey . It didnt last, and the third-longest win streak in franchise history is still alive. The Bruins scored three times in the third period, the go-ahead goal by Shawn Thornton with 3:18 to play, and Boston won its 12th in a row, 4-2 over the Phoenix Coyotes on Saturday night. The Bruins are two shy of the franchise mark of 14 straight set in the 1929-30 season. They also have the most points in the NHL with 103, two more than Western Conference-leading St. Louis. The Blues clinched a playoff berth as a result of Phoenixs loss. They managed their third-period rally despite the fact they were playing their second game in as many nights. "Tonight in my mind, it showed a lot of our character," Boston coach Claude Julien said. "We needed to show a lot of character there in the third to come back and we did. We did all the right things and we were determined to win and it showed." Jarome Iginla scored his 27th and 28th goals of the season for Boston, the second into an empty net in the final seconds. Oliver Ekman-Larsson had a spectacular goal to put Phoenix ahead 2-1 in the second period. Shane Doan scored the other Coyotes goal on a power play. The loss snapped Phoenixs three-game winning streak. Tuukka Rask, who did not play in Friday nights win at Colorado, had 30 saves for Boston. Phoenixs Mike Smith had 24. The loss and Dallas victory left the Coyotes two points ahead of the Stars for the final playoff spot in the West. Dallas has a game in hand. Phoenix had a 2-1 lead just 39 seconds into the second period thanks to Ekman-Larssons heroics. He took the puck from his own blue line, then evaded two would-be defenders, making a slick move that left Johnny Boychuk and Loui Eriksson in a heap. Rask deflected the first shot, but Ekman-Larsson knocked the rebound in as he sailed by the net. "I skated it up and I was looking for someone to pass to," Ekman-Larsson said, "but I didnt see anybody so I figured Id do it byy myself. Custom Oklahoma City Thunder Jerseys. quot; It ended a streak of almost 411 minutes, more than 20 periods, that the Bruins had never trailed. It was the first time in seven games that Boston trailed. The Bruins turned up their trademark tough, physical play in the final period. "They try to beat you 1-on-1," Phoenix coach Dave Tippett said, "and we didnt win enough of those 1-on-1 battles at the right times, and it came back to bite us." Boston tied it at 2 when Zdeno Charas shot deflected off Iginlas hip and into the net 3:48 into the third period. With much of the final period played in the Coyotes zone, Boston took the lead when Daniel Paille shot from a difficult angle to the left of the net, but it deflected off Thorntons stick and got past Smith for the score -- only the fifth goal of the season for the Bruins left wing. "Im glad it went in," Thornton said. "Everyone had a lot of chances tonight and it was a little bit frustrating for us until then. I mean, we were creating a lot of stuff, but nothing was going in. Happy we got rewarded for some hard work eventually." Boston took the lead in a hurry in the opening period. After Smith turned the puck over, Patrice Bergeron knocked it in from a crowd in front of the Coyotes net for his 22nd goal of the season, the puck slipping in just past the Coyotes goalies leg. Phoenix tied it when Brandon McMillans shot from close range bounced off Rask and Shane Doan scored to make it 1-1 with 8:15 left in the first. It was the first time in 11 games that the Bruins have allowed a first-period goal. Notes: The Bruins won their seventh straight road game. ... Boston is 16-4-4 against the Western Conference. ...
