Laura Robson has revealed that she was on holiday when she received her last-minute wildcard entry to the US Open.Robson was convinced she would not be given a chance to play at Flushing Meadows and had flown to Italy with friends, but she had barely had time to unpack when she received a phone call and was back at the airport ready to fly to New York for the years final Grand Slam.I played my [Challenger Tour] final in Landisville on Sunday and no one thought there was any chance of me getting a wildcard, Robson said.I was on the phone to [agent] Max [Eisenbud], and he was like, Im not getting any good vibes from the USTA, so he was just going, Yeah, go home. The next morning, on the Monday, I was like, I am supposed to get on this flight, should I go? Everyone just goes, Yeah, yeah, only a 10 percent chance. It was one of those things where I sort of knew in the back of my mind it was going to happen because as soon as you plan for it not to...I landed in Italy at like 9 a.m. [then] went up Vesuvius and did a bit of Pompeii and went straight back to the airport, so I had a great time.I dropped my friends off at the villa, which was amazing, and then turned around and came back.Robsons friends have been sending her holiday snaps of what she is missing but the world No. 247 will not mind.Once considered one of the games rising stars, Robson was given a reality check at Wimbledon when she was, in her own words, duffed up by world No. 2 Angelique Kerber. It prompted a change of attitude, where she no longer pines for the player she once was.Im not really looking at it that way any more, Robson said. I maybe was at the start of the year when I still had my protected ranking but its a totally different vibe for me now.I put so much pressure on myself every time I entered a tournament with my protected ranking to do well because you feel like you have to win to get your ranking back up quicker to then be in positions like this.I dont think it was a healthy way of thinking about it and I kind of let that all go after Wimbledon.I had a couple of horrendous Challengers but you just have to keep thinking its going to come together and I knew that when it did Id be ready for it because Id put the work in, so as soon as that happened, I feel a lot freer.Robson arrived from Italy with conjunctivitis in her eye but, now recovered, she is preparing to face fellow Briton Naomi Broady, the British No. 3, ranked 164 places above her.Initially, when I was coming back, I just lost the joy of playing a little bit, Robson said. It was such a grind for me trying to get through a tournament and stay healthy.Im just enjoying it. If it works out, great; if it doesnt, its not the end of the world. My mum always says to me: Its just a tennis match. Although I did call her and she was tearing up a bit. So she says that, but it means a lot.Press Association Sport contributed to this report. Malik Beasley Nuggets Jersey . PETERSBURG, Fla. Dikembe Mutombo Nuggets Jersey . LOS ANGELES -- Champagne and beer flooded the blue carpet in the Dodgers clubhouse. The stench of alcohol hung in the damp air. Wives, kids and a puppy were in on the party with music blaring. The Los Angeles Dodgers celebrated their fourth straight National League West title with the kind of storybook ending this city was built on: winning the crown in Vin Scullys final home game when Charlie Culberson homered with two outs in the 10th inning to beat the Colorado Rockies 4-3 on Sunday. It hasnt really sunk in, said Culberson, who made the Opening Day roster only to flip-flop between the majors and minors during the season. Culberson recorded three hits, tying his career high, and is 7-for-14 in seven games this month.Scully eluded the clubhouse chaos and throng of fans waiting outside the press box named for him, having quietly exited after broadcasting his last game at Dodger Stadium. The 88-year-old Hall of Famer, who has just three games at San Francisco next weekend before ending his 67-year career, bid a public farewell to the team and its 51,962 fans at games end.I was hoping the team would win the game 10-0 and there would be no tension, and it would be a nice, easy day, Scully said, looking out at the sea of faces turned toward his booth. Believe me when I tell you, Ive needed you far more than youve needed me.At that, he asked the crowd to indulge what he called a loving gesture and listen to him singing Wind Beneath My Wings that he recorded for his wife, Sandi. As the song played, the couple stood with their arms around each other.A lot of history this weekend, ace Clayton Kershaw said.Under Dave Roberts, the Dodgers became the first NL West team to win four straight division titles, also a first in franchise history. Were going to enjoy it.Culbersons first homer of the season and just the sixth of his career landed in the lower left-field seats, causing wild cheers and a raucous celebration at home plate. The Dodgers charged out of their dugout and surrounded Culberson, jumping up and down. They donned championship T-shirts and hats from carts wheeled onto the field.I wanted to see how they did it because everybody on this team believes and thinks that were going to do that next year, Colorado starter Tyler Anderson said after his teams 83rd defeat. The Dodgers turned toward the broadcast booth, took off their caps and held them in a salute to Scully, nattily attired in his usual long-sleeved shirt and tie despite the 95-degree heat. He began with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1950 and is the longest-tenured broadcaster with a single team in professional sports. What a special day, third baseman Justin Turner said. He replaced Rich Hill, who skipped his scheduled start for precautionary reasons because of a recurrence of blisters on the index finger of his left pitching hand.McCarthy gave up two runs and four hits in 5 1/3 innings, struck out six and walked one. He hasnt won since July 9 against San Diego.Several Dodgers tipped their helmets or saluted toward Scully in his booth before stepping into the box for their first at-bats.Some of Scullys grandchildren popped into the booth between innings, sharing hugs and kisses before he put his headset back on. Fans chanted VIN! VIN! VIN! between innings when video tributes to him were aired. A sheepish Scully covered his face with his hands, having said earlier that all the attention was embarrassing.COUNTING DOWNScullys final three games will be next weekend at San Francisco.
