SPRINGFIELD, N.J. -- Its the final major of the year for caddies as well as players. The heat is the story in Round 1. It became so hot that the PGA of America ended up having to syringe some greens with water to keep them alive. Our guest caddie today is a smart aleck, which is one of the reasons I love the guy.Hes also honest, which is why youll love him. Enjoy!Collins: What was the toughest part of Round 1? Caddie: Keeping my mans palms dry (said a bit tongue in cheek because everyone in the caddie area was sweating profusely). Collins: On the PGA Tour heat scale, where does this rank? Caddie: Ive never been to Malaysia so I cant compare there but ... its (the PGA Championship) No. 1. The only other thing I can compare it to is Congressional (in 2012). Remember that year when we got that big giant storm, when Coop (caddie Don Cooper) went down (with heat stroke)? Its just as hot as that.Collins: What hole was the hardest to caddie? Caddie: Hmmm. There werent really any hard holes to caddie. No, wait. Maybe 9. Yeah, probably 9. Collins: What made it difficult? Caddie: Right pin on a right tee; I work for a guy who hits a draw. That was the hardest hole for me.Collins: There was zero wind today. Does that change how you caddie or approach the round? Caddie: No, I dont think so. Its still a major. Same mindset. Collins: The talk around the clubhouse was about this course giving up a 62 or 63 with no wind. Caddie: (Laughing like a madman) Thats pretty funny. Collins: Ill take that as a no chance.Collins: Whats the one thing on this golf course you must avoid at all costs? Caddie: The port-a-potties! Theyre way too hot. Collins: For golf shots? Caddie: The one thing you must avoid at all costs? I dont know if there is one, to tell you the truth. Miss on the right side, if youre out of position. Miss on the right side. Collins: So dont short-side yourself. Caddie: (Laughs) Yeah, easier said than done.Collins: Which was the toughest green on the course? Caddie: Theyre all hard to read for some reason. They are hard to read. Collins: Why? Caddie: I think theres just a lot of subtleties. A lot of putts dont look like they (break) a lot, but youre trying to find something. Make sense? Youre trying to find something. Collins: Ive heard the rule of thumb is, since the clubhouse sits on top of the hill, everything breaks away from the clubhouse. That hold true? Caddie: For the most part, yes. Except, and I learned the hard way, except on the middle right pin on 15 if youre dead below it or dead behind it. Then its schneaky (yes, he pronounced it like that). It almost pulls back into the hill a little bit. Whooda known? (Said like a cartoon character.)Collins: Now that youve seen the golf course in major condition, what should people know about it? Caddie: That its long. Its long. (He fades off saying it again.) Maybe four of the toughest par-3s that we see all year long. Yeah, theres no letup on these par-3s. Collins: What makes them so tough? Caddie: I think distance and the size of the greens. Theres no letup. Its like every (par-3) is between 200 and 230 (yards). ... And theyre small greens! F---, (No.) 9 is tiny! (And) 16 is tiny! (And) 4s got a bunch of H2O in front of it! Theyre kinda spooky. (said with a high-pitched kids voice)Collins: Whats it like for the caddie to finish with two par-5s? Caddie: (Sarcastically) Not good for this one today! (He laughs hysterically. OK, so did I.) It means theres always a light at the end of the tunnel when theres two par-5s at the end. Its obviously different, but its pretty cool. Even though 17 isnt really hittable (in two). Anything can happen on 18, though, cant it? You could be 3 (shots) back and still get it done on 18, I would think. Or youre gonna have a mathematical chance at it. Its pretty cool. I enjoy it. http://www.atleticomadridpro.com/Kids-Jan-Oblak-Jersey/ . -- An ugly goal by Nick Bonino helped the Anaheim Ducks overcome the defensive-minded Phoenix Coyotes on a night when their ragged power play continued to struggle. RIO DE JANEIRO -- Claressa Shields had Olympic gold around her neck and a secret keepsake in her warmup jacket pocket. She reached in her pocket, pulled out her first gold from London and slipped the medal over her head. Two Olympics, two gold medals. She beamed as she held the medals in her hands for the fans to see -- a sparkling reminder that she stood atop the medal stand not only as the best in the world in her class, but as the only American two-time boxing gold medalist.Im going to let the world know and theyll never forget that I have two Olympic gold medals, she said. Just in case anybody had any questions.Shields had all the answers as she breezed through three unanimous decision victories in the tournament. The 21-year-old Flint, Michigan, native thumped Dutch fighter Nouchka Fontijn in convincing fashion to wrap up back-to-back middleweight gold. With the title a formality, she gestured toward a passive Fontijn in the fourth round as if to say, Come fight! Fontijn offered no resistance and the round served as little more than a coronation for the American face of womens boxing.I was like, hey, were here to fight, Shields said. You think you can beat me? Lets go. I hit you with a hard shot. Hit me back.Shields ran her Olympics record to 6-0, and she hasnt lost a fight since London, winning two world championships and a Pan-American Games title over the last four years.Shields, who beat Fontijn at the world championships in May, shook and shimmied before she took her triumphant step on the medal stand. She sang along to the national anthem, then raised both gold medals for all at Riocentro Pavilion 6 to see. Shields hatched the two medal celebration last month as a sign of perceived disrespect as much a dual celebration.I felt left out. I felt left out because I was like, wow, Im the first woman to ever win an Olympic gold medal and I didnt really get any recognition for it, she said.Shields had the American boxing spotlight to herself on Sunday, adding the Val Barker trophy as the best boxer in the tournament to her medal tally. She was joined by Uzbek light flyweight Hasanboy Dusmatov, who won the mens Val Barker one week after completing his impressive run to gold. Shields is the sixth American to win a Val Barker Trophy, but the first since Roy Jones Jr. at the 1988 Seoul Games. Will she fight for a third gold?I dont know what Im going to do. It depends on my opportunities, she said. She joined Britains Nicola Adams as the only women to win goldd in the London and Rio Games.ddddddddddddShields kicked off the first of four medal bouts on the final day of the 273-bout tournament that quickly turned into doubles action.Shields flashed her two golds. Uzbekistan won two golds. And Sunday capped double gold for the first couple of the Olympic boxing tournament.French fighter Tony Yoka joined fiancee Estelle Mossely as gold medal winners, defeating Britains Joe Joyce by split decision in a super heavyweight bout.Mossely won lightweight gold on her 24th birthday on Friday. She sat in the stands, cupped her hands to her face and shouted encouragement toward the 6-foot-5, 201-pound Yoka.Mossely left her seat at the end of the third round and rushed toward the concourse exit before pausing on the steps to hear the decision announced to the crowd. Mossely sprinted toward her man and made a golden leap into Yokas massive arms, just as she did after her victory. Only this time, it was Yoka in the boxing vest and trunks and off to the medal stand for a matching gold of his own.We were dreaming about participating together, Yoka said. Then we dreamed about having both a medal. Then, why not a gold medal? The couple has yet to set a date -- wanting to focus on performing against the backdrop of Olympic rings before deciding on wedding rings.Yoka, who said he would turn pro, laughed when asked if Mossely offered pre-fight advice: She asked me to win. She did her job. She had her medal and it was my turn.Uzbek boxer Shakhobidin Zoirov defeated Misah Aloian of Russia by unanimous decision to win flyweight gold. The 23-year-old Zoirov was hoisted on the shoulders of one of his corner men and paraded around the ring in a victory celebration. He dropped the first round to Aloian before he rebounded to sweep the scorecards over the final two rounds.Aloian covered his face with his hands and sobbed on the medal stand after settling for silver.Fazliddin Gaibnazarov defeated Lorenzo Sotomayor of Azerbaijan in the light welterweight final to become the third boxer from Uzbekistan to win gold in the games. Uzbekistan had just one gold ever in the Olympics.
