The Titans have added tight end Anthony Firkser back on to the 53-man roster and waived running back Dalyn Dawkins in a corresponding move. Firkser was one of the pleasant surprises of camp for the Titans and led the team in catches during the preseason http://www.tennesseetitansteamonline.com/corey-davis-jersey , notching 10 grabs for 103 yards and a touchdown. He made the initial 53-man roster, but was subsequently waived in favor of another backup tight end in MyCole Pruitt. The Titans will now carry 4 tight ends on the roster and given the performance of Jonnu Smith in recent weeks, it’s not impossible to imagine a scenario where Firkser — who is far more pass catcher than blocker — gets a chance to get on the field. Tennessee certainly can’t get less production from their tight ends in the passing game than they are right now. Dawkins had been on the roster to serve as the 3rd running back while David Fluellen was on the mend, but now that he’s back, Dawkins was no longer necessary. The team will likely try to bring him back on the practice squad.Titans training camp day 3 notes Today was my first day to actually be in attendance for a training camp practice. I had my 2 oldest boys out there who are 9 and 6, so I didn’t get to pay as much attention to what was going on out there as I usually would. There was a pretty good crowd out there http://www.tennesseetitansteamonline.com/kamalei-correa-jersey , but I honestly expected there to be more people than there were. The biggest news out of camp today was the guys that weren’t on the field. Rishard Matthews continues to be out with an undisclosed injury. I have some #sources who usually know stuff, and they don’t even know what is going on with him. He came out and caught some passes during a period where the quarterbacks were working on moving in the pocket, but that was all he did.Brian Orakpo didn’t practice. He was out there but not in pads. The good news is that he didn’t have a sling on his injured shoulder. Mike Vrabel didn’t give a timetable for Rak’s return but said he didn’t think it was too serious.Delanie Walker didn’t practice but it was just a day off for him. He should be back out there tomorrow.Rashaan Evans left practice early. Vrabel said afterwards that it might have just been heat related. That would obviously be best case scenario.A few observations from what happened on the field:Marcus Mariota hit a deep pass to Corey Davis early in the practice. It really was a thing of beauty. Those guys are going to do some special things if they can both stay healthy.Akrum Wadley looked pretty quick when he got chances to run the ball. The third running back spot between him and David Fluellen, who put the ball on the ground today, will probably come down to who is better on special teams, but Wadley looks to be the better with the ball in his hands. The defensive backs are fun to watch. They have the most energy of any group on the field. Malcolm Butler picked a pass off during 1-on-1 drills and the whole group went crazy. No doubt that energy comes from their position coach http://www.tennesseetitansteamonline.com/ryan-succop-jersey , Kerry Coombs. It is fun to watch Vrabel get out there and work with the guys. I have been to training camps with Jeff Fisher, Mike Munchak, Ken Whisenhunt and Mike Mularkey as the head coach, and I never saw any of them work in a drill with the players. Vrabel did it for most of the day.
